The Dircetor, Operations will be responsible to oversee the smooth and efficient operations across it’s five clinics including a surgical centre. Reporting to the Executive Vice President (EVP) and supported by a team of senior managers and team leaders the EDO works closely with leadership, staff, and the managing director, to ensure all clinics comply with corporate practices and processes, achieve their financial and operational performance targets while delivering quality patient care and providing outstanding client service to our key stakeholders.

In 2020 North Toronto eye Care (NTEC) merged with Prism Eye Institute, creating the largest Ophthalmology practice in Canada.

Prism is an internationally renowned institute with 5 facilities and 2 surgical centres, together we serve over 200,000 patients and perform 10,000 surgeries each year. Prism is a centre of excellence providing a full spectrum of eye care and recognized for handling some of the most complex eye diseases in the world.

What does this role entail?

OPERATIONS:

Overseeing the day-to-day operations of all sites to ensure the delivery of high quality and efficient patient care in a safe environment, including; planning, budgets, efficiency, optical retail, call center, customer service, doctor and staff satisfaction, facilities, equipment, procurement.

· Ensures their leadership team is knowledgeable and able to implement all programs and initiatives required to effectively run a successful clinic

· Preparation of annual business plan, execute on deliverables, ensure metrics are established, monitored, barriers are removal, follow through, improvement, tracking, reporting, recommendations

· Work with managers, site leaders and team leaders to identify, define and address key issues and priorities, and execute a plan for correction

· Ensure consistency and accuracy of pricing and inventory control to achieve COGS

· Apply industry best practices to optimize operational flow, patient wait times, clinic response time and communication with referring offices.

· Ensure optimization of human resources, including doctor and staff scheduling, room utilization and readiness.

· Create policies and procedures as appropriate

MANAGEMENT:

· Preparation of annual budget, operating and capital, with the EVP, creating realistic yet “stretch” targets for revenues and expenses

· Work with each Sr. Manager on completing a clinic specific Business Plan as part of the business review process

· Effectively positions strategic, enterprise-wide change initiatives to ensure the likelihood of favourable responses

· Perform monthly P&L reviews on each location to assess the financial goals against the clinic’s business objectives

· Initiate action plans and support to operations with deficiencies noted as a result of their business review findings

· Vendor Management – as the leader most closely in touch with clinic product/service requirements the Director is responsible to manage vendors to ensure top quality products/service while maintaining the outlined expense budget.

· Lead equipment trials and training events for new diagnostic equipment.

· In conjunction with HR, Provide / implement additional seminars, training sessions and materials that can assist site leads and team leads with team development on improving the client experience, service delivery excellence, standards and building sales

· Work with Sr. Managers and team leads to encourage clients to provide positive ratings / reviews on social media

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Must be a registered Allied Health Professional in good standing, in the Province of Ontario

· 8-10 years of progressive operations experience that has led to a management position

· Strong financial and budgeting knowledge

· Critical thinking – ability to understand issues, explore options, determine best course of action

· Thrives on multitasking

· Exceptional business acumen

· Established track record of achieving revenue and profit targets

· Proven experience in successfully developing client relationships

· Strong planning and organizational skills

· Exceptional client facing skills: ability to build trust, proven strengths in negotiation and dispute resolution, and ability to deliver service excellence to the client

· Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to facilitate workshops / presentations

· Skilled in coaching, motivation and team development

· Effective conflict management skills

· Effective Influencing skills

· Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, ie Google, etc.

· Ability to travel across geographic territory
