Dr. Amandeep S. Rai MD FRCSC is a graduate of the University of Toronto's Ophthalmology residency program, where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Amandeep S. Rai MD FRCSC is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Ophthalmology residency program, where he served as Chief Resident. At a national level, he served as President of the Canadian Council of Ophthalmology Residents and on the Canadian Ophthalmological Society’s planning committee.

He has been recognized with the Kensington Eye Institute (KEI) award for proficiency in cataract surgery, the John Speakman award as best resident at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and the Feldman/Trope/Wong Award as best instructor at TORIC, a national ophthalmology course for first year residents.

His previous training includes a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) degree from McMaster University and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Rai’s clinical interests include comprehensive ophthalmology, with a special interest in cataract surgery. He is interested in intraocular lens (IOL) design, innovation, and biometry. He is dedicated to medical student and resident teaching, and is a founding member of the annual “All About IOLs” symposium.

Dr. Rai has published peer-reviewed articles in the areas of medical education, surgical simulation, glaucoma and retina. He has presented at national and international conferences, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting, the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) meeting, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) meeting.
