Dr. Tom Klein is a highly experienced cataract and glaucoma surgeon who has performed thousands of glaucoma laser and incisional procedures, and cataract operations on patients from Canada and abroad. Dr. Klein has co-authored guidelines on the medical management of glaucoma in Canada.

Innovative diagnostic and treatment options introduced locally by Dr. Klein include multifocal lens implants during cataract surgery and the HRT for optic nerve imaging. Dr. Klein was the first eye surgeon to introduce SLT laser treatment for glaucoma locally, which is now a standard of care.

Accomplishments

An active investigator in a number of ongoing clinical research trials, Dr. Klein is also a member of the faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and a supervising preceptor of the Glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery fellowship program of the University of Toronto.

He is the past Chief Ophthalmologist at the William Osler Health Centre and the past President of the Toronto Glaucoma Society.
