Dr. Elham Rastikerdar is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and surgeon who takes care of patients with a wide range of eye conditions, such as cataract, glaucoma, retinal conditions, and corneal diseases.

She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has always had a very successful academic career throughout her life.

In addition to being committed to providing excellent patient care, she has a passion for and extensive experience in teaching and is affiliated with the University of Toronto Medical School and Department of Ophthalmology, where she is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.

In her spare time, Dr. Rastikerdar enjoys spending time with her family as well as travelling.

Accomplishments

Dr. Rastikerdar is a recipient of over 25 academic awards and scholarships for outstanding academic performance at every stage of her education.

Examples of such awards include the Major Hiram Mills Gold Medal for the highest academic standing in the entire McGill University Faculty of Science in 2004 upon obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Honours Microbiology and Immunology, as well as numerous awards for the highest academic standing amongst all McGill medical students during her medical school.

She also received the Highest Academic Achievement Award in 2011 and 2013 amongst all McGill Ophthalmology residents. At the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) Examination administered by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, she obtained the highest score amongst all Ophthalmology residents in North America in 2011, 2012, and 2013.


Memberships

Dr. Rastikerdar is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and an active member of the Ontario Medical Association, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Canadian Ophthalmological Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Canadian Medical Association.


Research

Dr. Rastikerdar has been actively involved in research throughout her career and has published and presented in various national and international conferences, such as the annual meetings of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
